For this project, I was tasked with designing a logo for a non-profit organization. The organization I selected was One Hundred K in Ten, which is an organization that strives to train 100,000 S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) teachers by the year 2021. One Hundred K in Ten is supported by a large number of businesses and organizations that donate to support teachers, pay for, and provide S.T.E.M. training. 

 

I went through a large number of variations  until I finally found a mark that not only felt balanced and proportional but also represented the organization accurately. My mark utilizes several beakers and a mortar board to create the owl form. The owl is well suited to represent this organization because it is closely associated with wisdom and the education system in the United States. During my process, I also adjusted the presentation of the organizations name. I changed it from “100Kin10” to “One Hundred K in Ten” because “100K” caused confusion and legibility issues since it was easily confused for the word “look.”
